Welcome
Introduction
As a student within the CTCP, there are a number of expectations placed upon
you. Some basic expectations are that students will prepare for their intensive
learning sessions and will participate actively within the class sessions (in
fact, part of your assessment will depend on it!). You will be expected to seek
help from your lecturers when you encounter a problem, manage your time and
develop your ability to become self sufficient in your studies. If you apply
yourself to these lessons you will enhance your ability to think, solve
problems, connect and integrate knowledge and experience. University study can
build the foundations for a life time of learning and growth, provided students
take responsibilty for their own learning.
Assessing your learning
At the completion of this two day orientation course, you will be required to
undertake a compulsory assessment so that we can be satisfied as to your level of
understanding on the issues covered. Don't be concerned, as the assessment won't
be difficult. It will comprise of approximately 40 tasks or questions and should
take around an hour and a half to complete. You will need access to a computer and
to the internet. You will have one week to complete the full assessment. All
students will be required to achieve an 80% pass rate (which shouldn't be
difficult if you apply yourself). Following this process, if your teacher
identifies the need for supplementary assistance or consultation to support you
and assist your studies, you will be advised.
