On Tuesday 20th of October, Mr Russell Smith Principal Criminologist at the Australian Institute of Criminology, attended the CTCP to give a talk on “Online Fraud and Identity Crime: Risks and Realities”. Russell manages the Institute’s research program on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing.

Russell spoke on how theft and misuse of personal information has become commonplace in online environments. He makes the point that the insecurity of personal information in the online world have, arguably, retarded the development of electronic commerce and created anxiety for many individuals and organisations.
